Burns Night is annually celebrated in Scotland on or around January 25. It commemorates the life of the bard (poet) Robert Burns, with a traditional Burn's supper and Ceilidh dancing. Please join us for this London based event at the Ceilidh Club in Hammersmith. But you have to be quick as the tickets sell out quickly.
This ugly building in the picture below is a town hall extension and if we could meet just there, by the moving stairs (next to connexions) - I will know by then where we need to go to get in.
If you are unsure how to get there, please give yourself plenty of time and please have a close look at google maps. If you are coming from far, please make sure you allow for transport issues as many underground lines are closed for repairs on weekends.
We will wait 15 minutes for any late comers and go in at 7:15 on the dot. If you are later than that you will not be able to get in.
Fee: £33, includes entry tickets, food (as per below), 3 hours dancing, booking and admin fees.
As well as 3 hours of dancing you get Haggis (vegetarian or meat), Neeps (turnips) and Tatties (potatoes) served in buffet style. It is available from 7:15 onwards. During the break, about 9:20, the haggis will be piped in and there will then be a recital of the Address to the Haggis. There is a cloakroom and a bar.
Most of the London venues only allow entry if you have a valid ID. Please ensure that you have it on you or you may be refused admission. Please note that all our events are for people over 18 years old, as per group's description.
The night comes highly recommended by some of our group members who attend it regularly and swear that it is heaps of fun.
Don't worry if you don't know how to dance it - the band have a caller and so no experience is necessary. They will talk us through the various steps and we will be able to have fun in genuine Scottish style! :)

Please note that unless the trip is cancelled the payments are non-refundable as the costs need to be paid in advance. However you may be able to sell your place to your friends or other group members if you follow this procedure; http://www.meetup.com/Curious-Kat-Adventure-Club/pages/What_to_do_if_you_can_no_longer_attend_an_event/ .
Please note that in order to keep the costs low, the trips are set up in such a way that they can be fully managed online. The descriptions are very detailed and you will find additional information in pages section of the website. If your query is not answered in the description, then please contact me via email on [masked] only. I won't be able to respond to queries sent in any other manner (facebook, meetup messenger, text message, post, sent via a pigeon, messenger, thrown into the sea in a bottle, or any other email, etc.). If you send the query to the email address above I will respond to you within 5 working days. If I'm running a trip at the time you send it, it may take a little bit longer (please feel free to check the meetup's calendar for details of the trips).
With over 60 events coming up, almost 5,000 members, current volume of emails, and only one me, it is simply impossible to monitor all the other channels. It would require hiring admin support and setting up a call centre, which as you can imagine would increase the costs of the events considerably. Please help us provide excellent trips at fantastic value for you and keep your emails to the minimum. Please make sure you read the event's description before contacting us.
PLEASE DO NOT POST COMMENTS BELOW, unless you are selling your place. Comments generate emails that spam inboxes of everyone signed up for the trip. If you have any queries, please email me directly on: [masked] .
