DVD Discussion Group: Nosferatu

The basic premise of this meetup is the same as a book club, only with a movie instead. We select a movie on DVD in advance, and we each watch the movie separately at our convenience. Then we get together to discuss it for an hour or so on the third Monday of each month.

C'ville Coffee is a nice space; food and drink is available, and the parking is good.

This month we'll get into the spirit of Halloween by discussing Nosferatu (1922). Anna will open the discussion, and then we will all get to express our opinions, reactions, and ideas about the film. You should also try to see Shadow of the Vampire (2000), which is a fictional story about the filming of Nosferatu.

Vampire Count Orlok expresses interest in a new residence and real estate agent Hutter's wife. Silent classic based on the story "Dracula." (

*Where Can I Find This Movie?:*
For a DVD copy, try local video stores, especially Sneak Reviews; online subscription sites such as Netflix and; the public library and the UVa library (if you are affiliated with UVa). It may also be available on streaming from services such as: Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, Hulu, etc. Let George know if none of these will work for you.

I have a conflict for Monday night, unfortunately, since I watched Nosferatu and was looking forward to discussing it. I hope you all have a good time!

In case you missed Nosferatu on TCM, you can also watch the entire movie on YouTube:

Set your DVRs! Nosferatu airs on Turner Classic Movies (TCM) on Monday, October 14 at midnight. I'm assuming they mean the night of 10/13 into the morning of 10/14.
