This is a ride that will probably only appeal to other Vancouverites (is that a word?). I plan on starting at Heathen, do a meandering ride around downtown Vancouver to look at lights, then find a spot along the waterfront to watch the Christmas ship parade which starts at 7pm and should reach the waterfront by 7:30pm. After the parade, we can ride back to Heathen for a warm up. I do not have a set route but plan on riding no more than five or six miles. I will only do this ride in dry non-windy weather since standing and watching the boat parade in the rain or even misty conditions is not too much fun.
Distance: 5-6 miles 10 mph
To accomodate more riders Leader Kathy will lead the first wave, and assistant Larry will follow at a reasonably distance with the second wave.
Traffic: Yes... in downtown Vancouver.
Ride Category: Advance Beginner and up.
Start Time: 6:00pm (meet and greet at 5:45pm)
Parking: plenty of street parking.

At the end of each ride we will gather for a post ride social. You are encouraged to attend. Bring a lock. Carry a credit card, or cash to buy food or beverage.
The fine print.......
CycleManiacs is a non-professional meet-up group of cycling enthusiasts intended to share a social, safe, and fun group riding experience with others.
Mandatory for all riders:
Helmets must be worn at all times while riding. This is a requirement and not a request.
Please review each ride and determine which is the appropriate for your skill level.
Always bring plenty of water, snacks for energy.
Bring a flat repair kit, including a spare tube tool kit and pump.
Obey traffic laws and remember you’re a representative of the greater cycling community
Working lights are mandatory for all evening and night rides.
Make sure your bike is in good mechanical condition to start the ride.
We do not use the term “all clear” when crossing intersections. Conditions can change quickly. When “Car Back” is called, it means single file. These and other terms will be discussed at rides start. Each rider is responsible for his or her own safety and is expected to ride in a safe group riding manner, which does not create a danger to others.
Manage your RSVP’s
The number of riders for each ride are limited by the event host, and based on the experience of the participants, the course, and conditions. If you sign up for the ride, and your schedule changes, you must change your RSVP to NO. This will allow riders on the waiting list to fill the vacancy and enjoy the ride. Please don’t wait till the last minute. We will track no shows. Those who repeatedly “no show” may be moved to the bottom of the wait list.
RSVP’s cannot include a “plus one” or guest. Every participant must be a member of CycleManiacs, and thereby in acceptance of the release and waiver of liability terms.
