What we're about

I got my official Rail-Trail books and I'm re-energized to explore! We'll begin close to western Massachusetts, then gradually branch out and cover as many as possible! I have a hybrid bike, and this will not be about training for a race or just getting to the destination, but about getting exercise, experiencing the freedom of two wheels, adventure-ing with others, and taking in the scenery along the way, as well as exploring the areas. We can also plan off-trail rides, and suggestions are welcome as I'm not familiar with the street routes around here (more so in eastern Mass.). Rides in cooler weather will happen, too!

Who we are: You add to the group with your uniqueness and positive outlook, value diversity and openness, and bring your flexibility and care for yourself and others. You respect yourself, everyone here, and everyone we encounter, and communicate as needed! And you respect the volunteer organizers' time! Very importantly, you take responsibility for yourself, and understand that safety is paramount, and that allows more fun. You want to enjoy the activities and support the enjoyment of others. You are 18 years old or older - I'm in my 50s and welcome all ages and backgrounds.

I'll also be looking for folks to suggest destinations and dates so I know what your interests are. As I get to know folks, I'll open it up for others to lead trips. My other group, started in July of 2018, is Eclectic Exploring - Western Massachusetts and Beyond (over 400 members and few cycling enthusiasts!), and I'm planning to start a holistic/personal development/mindfulness/meditation/coaching group soon!

That was the fun stuff, now the stuff to get out of the way so the fun can be more fun - PLEASE READ!:

PLEASE change your RSVP if you can no longer attend! We care about you and all members, we want to know that you're safe, we want other members to be able to attend in your place, and organizers need to know whether to take their valuable time and resources to drive somewhere on time to meet you, and to reserve this time on their busy calendars. Most appreciated! Sadly, if there are two or more no-shows without a reasonable explanation, we gotta letcha go, and we really don't wanna do that. :(

Please always review the event descriptions carefully! You are responsible for determining whether you are physically able, and able time-wise, to attend an event, and for being aware of the details before signing up. Logistics will be provided, and questions are welcome! (After a little research on your part, of course!)

Please include a photo of your human self with your profile if at all possible so that event hosts can recognize you when you arrive at an event, for safety reasons, and so organizers have some confidence that you are joining for the activities, the right reasons, and it is an authentic profile. If I see a profile without a face, or question the validity for any reason, I'll send you a private message with additional questions, or I may deem it necessary to immediately remove your profile from the group. Thanks!

If you have any questions or concerns about this Meetup group or an event, please contact the group organizer or event organizer, as appropriate, through the links on the group home page or event page, or post a "Comment" on the main or event page, as appropriate.

You do not need to RSVP "No" to an event unless you are changing your RSVP from a "Yes" to a "No."

If you receive unwanted Messages through Meetup, please simply Block them, Report them if you wish, and/or notify me. Sadly, this does sometimes happen, but we can just Block and Report, and I will delete and get back to the good stuff!

Anyone soliciting products or services through this group without the organizers' permission will be removed from the group immediately. To discourage solicitation, I ask that group members do not buy any products or services from anyone trying to sell them through this group or this website. Thank you!

For all group activities, think of your meetup organizer as fulfilling a social function in getting like-minded and like-hearted people with similar interests together. Please always review the event description carefully, and take responsibility for your own safety and experience. Perfect, thanks!
