Not to name names (Will Farmer) but someone has been requesting a Petersburg ride.;) So let's head to Petersburg for a casual, fast, or combo (your choice) ride around the park. It's a nice loop. Road, mountain, hybrid bikes are all suitable.
Pace: Up to you. It's a loop you can ride as slow/fast you would like. Mileage up to 15 at the Battlefield...you can ride more/less.
We will meet up and ride our bikes as a group to the festival. If you've had enough of the bike, feel free to drive and meet us. Approx. 3 miles from battlefield to Old Town.
If you're interested in history, I recommend watching the short movie at the battlefield's visitor center which gives a nice historical overview of the park. You can bike to each of the outdoor exhibits and don't miss the the Battle of Crater section. http://www.nps.gov/pete/planyourvisit/things2do.htm $5/car, $3 individuals.
Festival of Grapes and Hops
After the ride let's head to the Petersburg Farmer's Market area of Olde Town for the Festival of Grapes & Hops. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the gate. (Includes a commemorative wine or beer-tasting glass for your tasting enjoyment throughout the day. Enjoy delicious foods, live entertainment, and the opportunity to purchase your favorite wine, microbrew, crafter or artisan collection.) 11am-5pm.
*Can't do both? Feel free to join us for one or the other.
