In the first hour, Mike Boggs discusses the leap from mainframe to cloud where we’ll cover key considerations and high-level architecture. EMC has been working on the problem of getting its data out of its mainframe systems into a form that is consumable by modern business intelligence tools. The history of the effort includes many hurdles, false starts, direction changes, and technology changes. The lessons learned and the capabilities of the modern cloud environment are solving this problem. The presentation will cover the problem, challenges, the various attempted solutions, and resolution of the problem.

In the second hour, they’ll cover Self-Service Business Intelligence at EMC. In 2018 Colin’s team implemented Power BI Premium and AnswerRocket at an enterprise level for EMC Insurance.

We’ll first discuss AnswerRocket.
• Colin will discuss this Natural Language Query tool, how it works and how we had to approach it differently from traditional SSBI tools from an implementation and adoption standpoint.
We’ll then cover Power BI Premium
• The second tool covered is Power BI Premium, their approach for implementing and rolling out to support SSBI.
• What went well, what challenges were faced and lessons learned.

If you have any questions before the meeting, Colin prefers a discussion more than a lecture so please bring your questions or forward ahead of time and I’ll try to incorporate into the session ([masked]).
