After learning programming fundamentals and the basics of web development at Dev Bootcamp you may be wondering how to transition the skills you've honed into a career as an iOS developer. Dying to know how to make those glowing rectangles on your iPhone move around? Curious about how to get started with programming languages like Swift? Join us for a demo, talk and code along with Dev Bootcamp graduate Thomas Abend. He will present examples from his portfolio, introduce Swift and CGGeometry, and share general tips on how to get started in iOS development.

Thomas Abend is a 2014 Dev Bootcamp alumnus (Bees Michael!) who works as an iOS/everything developer at Hopscotch, an app that seeks to make programming available to everyone with a smartphone. Before becoming an engineer at Hopscotch, Thomas taught 8th grade English in Greenville, Mississippi and Newark, New Jersey. He studied Philosophy at Princeton University and was first exposed to coding through PLOrk, Princeton’s laptop orchestra. When he isn’t figuring out new ways to make Bears move around the screen, he enjoys playing music, cooking and fencing.
