What we’re about
The DC Area Drone User Group (DC DUG) is an organization for amateur and professional drone users that seeks to promote the responsible use of flying robots for community service, artistic, entrepreneurial, and recreational purposes. All experience levels are welcome. We get together as a community to share tips, experiences, and of course to do some flying. We work to educate ourselves about how to build and use drones in a safe and respectful manner and to educate the public about the positive role aerial robotics can play in our society. Most importantly, we think that flying robots are a lot of fun! DC DUG is a member of the Drone User Group Network, an association of community organizations that promote the use of civilian drone technology for the benefit of humanity.

- Learning series: Rules & Regs!New Makerspace - (RSC), Rockville, MD
A big thank you to everyone who came out to the kick-off meeting and shared feedback about what they'd like to do as part of the DC Area Drone User Group. Learning and knowledge-sharing was a big theme, so we're going to aim for regular speaker events. We're also working on designing some "learn by doing" activities and exploring options for outdoor events once the weather warms up; so be on the lookout for exciting announcements in the coming months!
This meetup will be a speaker on safety, rules, and regulations. We're planning for an option to join virtually, but as it will be our first time setting that up expect some possible glitches! The speaker, as well as details on joining virtually, will be announced closer to the event. We'll plan on having some time to chat at the MakerSpace after the talk, and then a group may migrate to a nearby bar/restaurant to continue the conversation.
We're being hosted by MoCo Makers and the Rockville Science Center. If you'd like to help us continue to use the space, please become a formal member of the DC Area DUG by signing up here https://www.buymeacoffee.com/dcdrone - all contributions will go directly toward our group's use of the Rockville Science Center facilities. For only $2/month members will get access to exclusive chat rooms and membership parties. Membership is never required to attend our free events, like this one!
