Alexandria (Happy) Humanist Social

Cross-post from WASH; see updates and changes there.

Update 8/4: Caboose Cafe is closed! New location is Pain Quotidien, 701 King St at Washington in Old Town.

Let's meet at *new* Le Pain Quotidien on King St on 1st and 3rd Tuesdays from 6-8PM for some good humanists/skeptics/atheists meetup. It's a great way to build community and meet others.

Le Pain Quotidien is .7 mi from King St Metro (B/Y) and you can ride the free King St Trolley. Le Pain is a high-end restaurant with something for everyone as well as coffee, tea, beer, wine, vegan, gluten free, and anything you might like. We'll meet upstairs for a separate and quiet discussion area.

If you're interested in flyering beforehand, contact the organizer with a suggested location (metro, King St, waterfront park...). The organizer will bring the flyers.

The group kicked off with Rapture Party on Oct 21st, 2011 at Hard Times Cafe and spent a full year at Hard Times and nearly a year at the ill-fated Caboose Cafe in Old Town. Caboose RIP 7/31/2013, Resurrected 8/15/2013 as Hanan Cafe - actually better Ethiopian than the original.

Jenny, unfortunately they are over. We have much gratitude for Jason Torpy's two years of hosting these events.

For an example of how I argue for atheism, see http://sandwalk.blogspot.com/2013/10/the-accommodationist-view-of-kevin.html comments section.

The new people I met where friendly and interesting. Jason had interesting documents on the table. Jason's views regarding atheism appear to be the same as mine and it is always good to encounter people who get that exactly right, particularly people who also value, and are wiling to sand up for, civic equality (although we disagree on other issues, such as his view that killing animals for food is ethically dubious).
