New Meetup: Meet the Organizer

Announcing a new Meetup for The DC Atheists Meetup Group!

What: Meet the Organizer

When: November 24,[masked]:00 PM

Thai Place
2134 Pennsylvania Ave, NW
Washington, DC 20037

This meetup will be an informal event designed for me to get to know people and listen to their perspectives. I very much enjoyed meeting the wonderful group of meetup people who attended the Rob Boston presentation. I am glad that everyone enjoyed that presentation. Rob is a great speaker. However, it did not leave as much time as I would like to get to know our members.

Secularism is growing in visibility and our culture will have to change much as societal views of gays have changed since the 1950?s. That change will occur because we have the courage form a sense of community. Community does not work unless it nurtures us in ways we want to grow and it certain helps if we have fun in the process. I have found that secular communities in this area are very educated, informed and a joy to be with.

I will shortly be posting a report of recent events and issues that might be of interest to our members. There are a wide range of issues in that reports that can be discussed at the meetup or on-line.

The prior organizer set up our meetup so we could not use our email list for discussions between us. I have changed our meetup settings so we can have vigorous on-line discussions. I have managed numerous listserves over time and I will clarify a how that works as we go along.
