Secular Perspectives

Hi All,

The recently announce Secular Perspectives blog is showing a dramatic increase in traffic to the site. We have several new bloggers who have already signed up as bloggers or are in the process of signing up. We are expecting a continuing increase in the diversity of perspectives included in the blog. I think virtually every search engine will now return our blog at the top of the list if the terms 'secular perspectives' are used in a query.

There have been revolutionary changes either happening or threatening to happen in many countries of the Middle East. The topics suggested for our Friday February 18 meetup have been modified to reflect those changes and possible developments. Our host for that meetup has posted a rather passionate blog entry on this. To read it:

The American Humanist Association has produced a video celebrating Darwin Day, February 12. The AHA is doing a wonderful job in nurturing rational secular thought both nationally and locally. Your organizer was pleased to be one of the people included in the production of this video. For those who have not seen it:

I had the opportunity to visit Philadelphia and its wonderful spectrum of resources for those who are interested in the history of our federal government in that city. The noble slogan on the Liberty Bell is a Biblical quote from Leviticus. I posted a blog entry on the echoing influence of this passage:

William Whitesell is an economist and a long term member of our secular community. He has applied his very considerable intellectual skills to a book published by the Cambridge University Press, Climate Policy Foundations: Science and Economics with Lessons from Monetary Regulation.  This book is likely to be a definitive textbook in its intended domain. We will likely have some further insights from his book in future blog entries. A current conversation with Bill:

People can sign in and select the menu option to 'Follow' the blog. For those who like to use RSS feeds or related technology an option is now included for that purpose. Recommendations, questions or possible essays to be posted can be emailed to
