Parking is available on the street, but give yourself an extra 15 minutes to find it. 16th Street has some free parking after 6:30 where you don't need to worry about the time cap. (Just read all the signs before walking away from your car.) There is also meter parking on 17th street and a garage a few blocks away on P street between 16th and 17th.

Sorry I can't make it tonight, everyone. I'll see you at the next one, though. I've been swamped with projects like this: https://soundcloud.com/subtidal-studios/vanished-skyscrapers, for upcoming films and ads!

There needs to be a basic remedial overview of what goes on a film production and what are the basic responsibilities of each crew member, such as bringing your scripts to the location of the production. After all, that's what a film's based on. A hard script -- not your cell phone.

Each crew member from the producer should have a Production Book (3-ring binder) and it should consist of:

    1. Script
    2. Production Memos/Notes
    3. Cast List
    4. Crew Lists
    5. Role Responsibilities
    6. Check-off lists re Tasks
    8. Breakdown Sheets
    9. Call Sheets
    10. Continuity Logs
    12. Film Production Organizational Chart

Also, each crew member, but especially Production Assistants, should have the following PA kit:

    1. Production Book (see above)
    2. Flashlight
    3. Multi-tool or set of small basic tools
    3. Journal
    5. Sharpies, pens & Pencils
    6. Work gloves
    7. GPS
    8. Water
    9. Poncho
    10. Cell phone
    11. Duct tape or Gaffer’s tape
    12. Measuring tape

Sorry I can't make next week's meeting. Sounds great WIFV and Docs in Progress do a monthly documentary roundtable the second Monday of the month. We alternate networking/viewing months with information months. We also maintain a listserv for documentary filmmakers. Email me at [masked] for more info! Melissa H.

    • renzo

Im going Sunday. First time. Wats it like?

      March 26, 2014

    • Erika

So far the workshops have been great. They've had knowledgeable speakers with real-life experience. The past weekends have been focused on the development, pre-production, and production phases of filmmaking. This weekend looks like it's more about post-production and distribution, or what happens after you have a finished product. Should be interesting.
