Aquilent is pleased to announce the list of speakers for the upcoming Health 2.0 STAT event on Monday, September 20, 2010, at The Barking Dog in Bethesda. Registration is now open! To register, visit the Health 2.0 STAT meetup site.

Plan to join us the evening of Sept. 20th to hear a rapid-fire series of short presentations from five Health 2.0 leaders. The presentations will be followed by a panel style Q&A session, led by a moderator that will facilitate and explore a range of topics. The presentations will highlight results associated with the innovative implementation and use of Web 2.0 based solutions in the healthcare market, at government agencies, and from a patient and user perspective.

Topics and Speaker Bios:

1) and Apps for the Healthy Kids Challenge

Dr. Robert Post will highlight on-line tools, the work at updating the tools, and the Apps for Healthy Kids Challenge. The Apps challenge is work he is doing with the White House Let’s Move! initiative for combating childhood obesity.

Since June 2007, Robert Post has been the Deputy Director of USDA’s Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion (CNPP). As the senior administrative official in the Agency, he is an advisor to the Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition, and Consumer Services, representing the Department in matters related to nutrition policy and guidance. In this position, Dr. Post is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, review, and promotion of the 2010 Dietary Guidelines for Americans, the MyPyramid food guidance system, and programs, including the Healthy Eating Index, the USDA Food Plans, and the Cost of Raising a Child. Currently, Dr. Post is also an adjunct professor in the Nutrition and Food Science Department of the University of Maryland, instructing courses in nutrition, food and public policy, and food industry quality control and marketing. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Health, and Science Education Policy and Program Administration, from the University of Maryland, where he also earned a Master of Education in Health Communications, Media, and Technology in 1989; a Master of Science in Food Science and Microbiology in 1981; and a Bachelor of Science in Food Science in 1978.


Dr. Doug Evans will discuss­, a free mobile information service designed to promote maternal and child health. An educational program of the National Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition (HMHB), text4baby provides pregnant women and new moms with information they need to take care of their health and give their babies the best possible start in life. Women who sign up for the service by texting BABY (or BEBE for Spanish) to 511411 will receive free SMS text messages each week, timed to their due date or baby’s date of birth. Dr. Evans, led the design of protocols for evaluating the project and is analyzing the data.

Dr. Doug Evans is a Professor in the Department of Prevention and Community Health and in the Department of Global Health at The George Washington University . He is the Director of the Public Health Communications and Marketing Program. Dr. Evans has built his public health career on an insight the private sector has long understood - marketing and communication matter. A research psychologist, his work focuses on two key areas: building the evidence base to establish the effectiveness of marketing and message strategies in promoting healthy behaviors and expanding the use of effective commercial marketing strategies to public health, especially to reach socially and economically disadvantaged populations

3)­ is the consumer-oriented website launched on July 1st of this year as mandated by the recently-passed health insurance reform legislation referred to as the Affordable Care Act. Features of this website include audience-segmented explanations of the bill, an interactive implementation timeline, and a robust health insurance finder portal. This portal is the first health insurance finder ever to include all care options available for an individual or a family: public, private and community programs. Craig’s presentation will demonstrate this portal, highlight other key areas of the website, and give insights into how the pieces came together for to be built from the ground up in a mere three months.

Craig Stoltz is Editor and Content Manager for for the Web Communications & New Media Division of the US Department of Health & Human Services (HHS). Craig is a veteran digital professional dedicated to using the web and emerging media wisely, efficiently and creatively. His strategic communication planning expertise with emphasis on creating user-focused digital content is built on journalistic skills developed over a 12-year career at The Washington Post.

4) Drupal4Gov

Kirsten Burgard will discuss how Drupal4Gov relates to the work she’s done at the Department of Veterans Affairs to build a community of coders in the Government (federal, state and local). She will highlight some site examples of their members and briefly touch on how some agencies are planning to collaborate together for the future.

Kirsten Burgard entered federal service as a loan specialist at the Cleveland Regional Loan Center (RLC), an office of the Department of Veterans Affairs in 1997. Ms. Burgard moved to the St. Paul RLC in the winter of 1999 to assist in the implementation of a Quality Control team for home loan reviews. She was promoted to VA’s central office in the summer of 2000 to write VA loan policy. At Central Office, Ms. Burgard became involved in the Loan Guaranty division web presence, maintaining content for the site and recommending innovative solutions to meet the needs of veterans and lenders. In the spring of 2007, Ms. Burgard moved to the VA’s Office of Information and Technology (OI&T) to work in the office of IT Strategic Planning where she routinely provided gap analyses, managed the office’s web presence and developed material to report on the IT strategic plan’s measures and performance. In 2009, Ms. Burgard was detailed to the General Services Administration to develop a web based application using the open source technology Drupal. Ms. Burgard has continued to provide experience, organizing and presentations on Drupal and the power of the Drupal community for government web development. Ms. Burgard currently serves as a program analyst in OI&T and provides Web based assistance to multiple offices.

5) 5 Major Mistakes Hospitals Make with their Web Content

Ahava Leibtag will discuss how healthcare organizations make the same mistakes repeatedly when crafting online content. These mistakes are easy to identify, and even easier to avoid. Through a step- by-step presentation, Ms. Leibtag will give examples of the 5 major content mistakes hospitals make when creating and writing Web content and how to avoid them.

Ahava R. Leibtag has more than ten years of experience in writing, messaging and marketing. Her unique specialty is creating marketing campaigns designed to reach your end-user; no matter how intricate your subject matter. Ahava is the Principal and owner of AHA Media Group, LLC, a full service Web consulting firm that has been in operation since October 2005. Clients include Johns Hopkins Medicine, Washington Cancer Institute, Georgetown University Hospital, Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Franklin Square Hospital, Chesapeake Urology Associates and Union Memorial Hospital.

Ahava received her M.A. from Georgetown University and her B.A. from Stern College for Women of Yeshiva University.
