What we're about

Calling all caregivers of special needs children and adults in Northern Virginia and the DC metro area. We are here to help by offering comprehensive yoga therapy to you and your special needs dependents. Classes and workshops are offered in small group settings as well as privately throughout the DMV.

Anyone with physical, sensory, cognitive, intellectual or mental impairments can benefit from comprehensive yoga therapy. Clients experience increased self-regulation and self-soothing skills by learning breath work and relaxation techniques. The physical practice of yoga postures, or asanas, increases motor skills and body awareness which promote greater communication and social skills.

A sample of the special needs we have worked with include:

• Down Syndrome

• Emotional Behavioral Disorder (EBD)/Emotional Disturbance

• Executive Functioning Disorder

• Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

• Asperger’s Disorder

• ADHD/ADD

• Disinhibited Social Engagement Disorder

• Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)

• Attachment Disorder

Oppositional Defiance Disorder

We also share teachings of yoga with caregivers which contain many tools to open new thought processes that can greatly improve life balance and success at work or in their home life. Many have learned to tap into their inner strength and overcome self-defeating challenges, maximize talents, compensate for deficiencies, and manage the challenges of everyday life through the skills gained in CYT.
