Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

Was in scouts, have done a few overnight/multi-night trips the last few years, thru-hiked the AT nobo 2016. Longest day was 44 miles up in Maine (had to get to Katahdin before the rain!). Coldest is somewhere below freezing, it was snowing but don't know the temperature.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

Went to Dolly Sods for the first trip in a year. Dolly Sods is gorgeous, but my sawyer seized up after not being used in a year and I had no water. Still managed 20 miles but had to come back a day early. Live and learn - test equipment before heading out.

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

Katabatic Helios 55 pack, Katabatic Chisos 40 bag, EE 20 bag, Hennessey hammock, tarptent.

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

I'm pretty happy with my load and my pace, but have much to learn. I really just want to get out more.

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)
