Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

2 & 3 night trips, Appalachian Trail and Massanutten and Wild Oak Trail. Longest single daylight about 20 miles with 25-30lb (including food & H2O). Longest distance 24-hr: about 60 miles with 15-lbs and not camping. Coldest night was 7 deg F, but that was hiking/jogging, not sleeping. Don't know what coldest sleeping was - probably about 45 deg F - I expect to tackle more cold weather now that I have gotten good cold-rated bags.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

Big Agnes FlyCreek tent; bag REI Halo (W 10 deg) and then lighter-weight alternatives for summer weather; for colder weather, REI Expedition, but would not expect to need that for 3-season category; GoLite pack (although I have several to choose from depending on size needed).

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

Looking for backpacking companions who are interested in covering decent mileage in a day. Ultralight AT through-hike someday?

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)
