Describe your backpacking experience and background, please include longest mileage in a day (with pack) and coldest nights out.

Used to backpack in Spain, 3 to 5 day trips in Picos de europa, maximum mileage per day with a backpack 28 miles, coldest night out around 30 F.

Describe your most recent outdoor adventure. When was it? How did you set it up? Did the weather cooperate? How did it go?

Massanutten Mountain South loop with DC UL, unexpected 28 Miles in one day, I never thought I could do that :) we had wind and rain the first night, and beautiful weather Saturday and Sunday. Total mileage of the trip 38 M

The Big Three: what specific gear (not just brands) do you use for your three-season shelter system, sleep system, and backpack? (It's okay if it isn't ultralight!)

I have a 15 F down sleeping bag sierra design, a Thermarest Neoair xtherm sleeping pad, a tarptent 1p Notch, (in Spain i never used tent for backpacking, just slept in the open with a bivvy bag but there ar not so many bugs at 5000 ft :-) and it rarely rains there... and a gossamer Mariposa backpack.

Help us understand your reason for joining DC UL Backpacking, including your goals for lightening your load and quickening your backpacking pace.

I am getting back into backpacking and I seeing that there are much lighter options than what I was used to, I want to upgrade; also met some UL backpackers on my last trip and would love to slowly upgrade and reduce my weight. I sure my back will be thankful

How did you learn about our group? (I'm trying to improve our visibility, so I'm curious.)

What Iru is saying about this Meetup Group

This group is really fantastic, I am part of a bunch of meetup groups and this one is definitelly my favorite. Great people, great trips, really well organized, and a great way to get into ultralight backpacking, increase your mileage, and make good friends, while sharing about gear and tips to go lighter. I love this group!
