Group Build - end table

This is a project in process; everyone is invited to take part.
The first day, we finished the design, milled old 2x4s to suitable dimension, cut table frame parts to length, and laid out mortise locations.
The plan for Wednesday is to cut mortises with the plunge mortiser, and cut tenons by hand with my favorite, the saw and the chisel.
If there is any time, we will begin assembling the frame!

The attached images are of a stool I built today. It was built with hand tools only (until time ran down, forcing some bandsaw shortcuts). Seems like we could make one of these in the future, over two classes.

Good evening all! We made progress on the tenons...just a bit of paring left to do. Next class we will focus on mortises, test assembly, and final assembly (that includes cross-drilling and inserting dowel pins). Next scheduled, feel free to bring your tool belts, coveralls, and flannel shirts/wool sweaters.

I'll be there, I do however have to warn you recently I was diagnosed with scoliosis and so depending on what is asked (lifting and moving single boards for instance depending upon their size and how far across the shop), I may be unable to do, at least not by myself. However, most days my joints still are kind enough to allow me to wield a screwdriver, hammer, etc. and do most other things! That, or I just let my ego and desire to keep wanting to do this until I die be stronger than that little voice telling me to sit the fuck down and let the non-broken people do this! You are 26! Do you REALLY want to kill yourself doing what you love all because you had no way of doing it for 13-14 years as my dad thought it was too dangerous and are still semi-blinded by your middle school shop teacher saying that you were the best student he ever had and I should drop out and move into his basement and be his apprentice, as it would be the best career move of my life!

Sorry, I will not be able to attend due to a prior engagement. I thought the date read Thursday instead of Wednesday. Have fun and I hope to see everyone next time.
