UPDATE July 9th: Well, the weather is suppose to be partly cloudy and in the high 80's for Saturday, so it should be a good day to go tubing. Just a few things to remember: 1) Make sure you bring lots of water. We will be on the river between 2 to 3 hours depending on the flow of the river. Also, we will not be stopping for lunch so make sure you eat a big breakfast before you arrive and also bring lots of snacks for the ride. Also, bring plenty of sunscreen!!!! 2) You can rent cooler tubes if you decide to bring a cooler. If you decide to bring beer please make sure you bring it in cans NOT bottles. Also, make sure you pack it in the bottom of your cooler so it is not that obvious. 3) Parking is limited so if you can carpool please do. You can post carpool information below. Remember it is about an hour and 1/2 drive from the DC area so please make sure you plan enough time for the ride. Below is a link to River Riders website: http://www.riverrider...
The directions they have here are alittle bit better then through Mapquest
Please be on time at 10:30am. We will need to fill out paperwork and also watch a safety video before we can get on the river. To do this all and be able to start at the designated time I need everyone to arrive by 10:30am. If you find yourself running late please call at[masked] so I can keep track of who is still coming.

Also, if you are interested in going to get something to eat after the tubing is over in Harper's Ferry do bring a change of cloths, becasue you will get wet riding down the river. Looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday. It should be a fun day. COST: $36 PP. PAID: First paid basis only. Max 50 people.

What can be better then spending the day floating down the Potomac river enjoying the sights and taking in the sun. I'd say not much, so please join me for an afternoon of whitewater tubing in West Virginia and to make this trip more adventurous we will be tubing down the Class 1,2, and 3 rapids of the Potomac River. Whitewater tubing is their most popular river activity and for good reason. Experience the thrill of whitewater without the paddle! This trip passes by the historic town of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia where Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia come together. Enjoy the beauty of the Harpers Ferry water gap and Maryland and Loudon Heights while enjoying the exciting class I-III whitewater on the Potomac River (depending on water levels). The trip lasts 1-3 hours (about 2 hours on average). Please meet at River Riders in Harper Ferry, West Virginia by 10:30am. It is about any hour and half ride from DC, so please plan your trip accordingly to arrive on time. Once you arrive you will need to fill out some paperwork before we can load the shuttles to take us to the river. Please be prompt so that we can make it to the river by 11:30am. After we have spent a few hours ridng the rapids down the river we can head over to the town of Harper's Ferry for a late lunch. It should be a fun day and I am looking forward to spending it riding the river with you all!!!! Stacey

Stacey was great in organizing and logistics but the place is kind of a madhouse, way too crowded, took too long to get cooler tubes, hard to get to the other side of the river on those tubes (the green tubes are ALOT of work, so skip them), and many spots on the river were not flowing...would have preferred less work and more relaxation, but thats what the beer is for, oops, I mean the beverages in the cooler. Anyway, overall I'd skip this particular tubing place but love tubing and would def do a different place.

It was fun, would have like more rapids. Also, myself and a few others found ourselves virtually alone on the river for much of the trip down, as the very large group separated out.
Stacey did a great job organizing the trip and getting us all set to hit the water.

Stacey did as good a job as possible in this very crowded venue with many large groups all congregating for their tubing experience. The place was a real zoo and needs better layout and organization , but Stacey eased our pain by getting us forms to fill out without waiting on line, and keeping us together and informed. It was a long wait for the floating coolers or anything else you wanted to rent or buy, not to mention the bathroom line. It took about 2 hours from the time we all met to actually getting on the river, most of it waiting around for our group to enter the orientation area. The tubing itself was nice, with some fun rapids here and there but lots of slow areas, some where we actually walked through or paddled hard to get through. Overall, I would never go again, but it was worth the shot and there was good company and it was a great day to be on the river. Again, this is not to reflect on Stacey in any way...I would definitely go on another trip that she organizes.

Make sure that you do NOT bring any alcoholic beverages in the cooler. That way, I don't need to pluck any of you out from the confluence of the rivers...... Stay safe, and have fun.
