Join us for a scenic hike at Buck Hollow & Mary's Rock: 9.0 miles, 2,600 ft elevation gain, 4.5 hours or less, 4 out of 5 in difficulty. Doing it clockwise will give us views to the east during sunrise on the way up Buck Ridge - after getting the steepest part of the hike out of the way first.

We'll have a mid-morning break while enjoying the views from Mary's Rock. On the way down we'll enjoy the sun from behind as we descend through the scenic Buck Hollow.

After completing the hike, for those interested, we will invade the Thornton River Grill Restaurant in Sperryville. Please indicate your desire to join us with a "TRG". We expect to be back at Dunkin Donuts by 4:00 pm.

Trail Directions/Map: Trailhead at 8:00 am:[masked] [masked] (a few miles west of Sperryville on 211). There is limited parking so we highly encourage carpooling as much as possible! Please bring the printable topo map and trail directions from http://www.hikingupward.com/SNP/BuckHollowMarysRock/

When: 7:00am. Arrive early for coffee, break, etc. We will leave promptly at 7:00am.

Fitness/Skill Level: This is a moderate to strenuous hike, because of steepness and a brisk pace. Please be considerate to others: don't try new shoes on this hike and don't do it if you are not comfortable doing 10 miles at a brisk pace in steep terrain.

Weather/Cancellation: We are an adventure group, but I do this for fun. It's not much fun slogging through rain and mud. It is on you to check this space or call me for last-minute cancellations.

Carpool: Let's go green by sharing rides. Remember that the metro does not run this early on weekends. Post if you have or need a ride.
