Lesson #1: Always confirm with 3rd-party vendors before your customer receives or experiences anything.
Dear DC Spotters,
I am deeply embarrassed about yesterday's happy hour/brain storming fiasco at Midtown Loft. We found the establishment closed due to maintenance problems, so we directed people to Current only to find that it was also closed for a private event. As a last resort, we directed people to Public Bar, which in itself has multiple bars and crowds of people. The morale of the story? The organizer should confirm with the venue the day of the event (no matter how many times he's been before), arrive 30 minutes earlier than everybody else, and have a contingency plan prepared. Also, everybody should have my mobile phone in case you need to find us. I requested a written apology from the Micheal Romeo Group and complimentary drinks for everybody who attended yesterday.
Of the Spotters that managed to find each other, we had interesting discussions that included open access to pharmaceutical data, the opportunities found through LinkedIn, and scotch tastings. I encourage everybody to please fill out our membership directory form (deadline is tonight). If you have any other suggestions or comments, please feel free to e-mail me directly at [address removed].
