CANCELED: monthly hike at ft. ben

Ft. Ben offers lots of great trails that range from easy to rugged. This park is nice because it's so close to downtown, yet feels so far away from the city!

For this hike, we'll meet at the trail head of the Fall Creek trail, which is near the parking lot by Delaware Lake. This hike will be on the the Fall Creek/Camp Creek loop, which takes about an hour. This trail is moderately rugged as there are stairs and hills. We'll stop for breaks along the way and let any swimmers enjoy Duck Pond.

If it is pouring rain, consider this event to be canceled. Entrance to the park is $5/vehicle. 2013 annual pass for DNR State Parks & Reservoirs. They are only $40 and are good from Jan 1st - Dec 31st.

Trail map is available online.

there's a 70% chance of rain and thunderstorms tomorrow. I am going to wait until 9am to officially "call it" as the weather may change, but if it is pouring down rain, the hike will be cancelled.

Since it has been raining all night and appears to not cease anytime soon, I am canceling this hike. I am going to try to find someone to host next Sunday and reschedule the hike.

My dog, Cooper, was neutered yesterday. Is this trail too rugged for him by next Sunday? I have not done this trail so I'm just wondering how rough it is. Thoughts?

There are a lot of steps and some rugged hills. You should follow your vets recommendation for how long it'll take to recover. Seems like most vets day two weeks.

I have two dogs, Jakey and Leah. Both weight about 100 pounds each and are very sweet dogs. If my hubby isn't out of town for work, we will be bringing both dogs. If not, I will only be bringing one of them this time and the other the next time. I look forward to meeting all of you! I am new to the area and want to make some new friends!

Sophie had so much fun at the hike today! I'm going to try to make to this one as well but I have a 5k the night before so I may not wake up in time.

I'm going to be out of town for Columbus Day weekend, so I moved this hike to the first Sunday in October.
