What kind of nerd are you? Scifi? Comic Book? Gaming? All of the above?
Does it matter? Not really, but here are a few things I have found. A lot of us nerds aren't great in normal Muggle settings. We don't want to go to bars and drink and dance.
This group is for those of us that want to do things like meet up to play D&D, want to watch Anime movies together, go to Cons together.
We have a discord server that we do all of our communication and planning on so please join us there
Here are a few rules for our Meetups that I hold every member accountable to.
I want this group to be very laid back with no pressure or worries and somewhere you can feel safe, because of that, there are a few rules I will follow closely.
1. As nerds we are really passionate about our nerd-oms, as such there will be discussions and arguments about certain topics. This is perfectly acceptable. If this becomes disrespectful or hateful, I will ask for it to stop and maybe even leave.
2. There will be absolutely 0 shaming of any kind. This can be body, race, sex, religion or being bad at grammar. If you are not tolerable of different people, then please leave the group and if I see you being hateful towards anybody I will ask you to leave and remove you from the group.
3. Last but not least and this is the hardest to explain. I have been to a lot of Nerd meetups or events and the fact is, a lot of us are not super comfortable around crowds, or are simple introverts. Please do not pressure anybody to join in on events or games or any activity going on. Respect peoples space and personal bubbles.I understand the need or urge to check and try to make somebody feel welcome. For the most part if somebody is standing off by themselves or walking behind the group, they probably need some space. If you feel that something may be wrong, verify they are ok, ask "Do you want some company?' and accept "No". There is nothing wrong with needing to recharge your people meter.
"This Meetup Group is NOT an established entity with the State of Texas. You volunteer and individually claim responsibility of yourself when you and your party sign up for events. This is strictly just a social group of like-minded individuals "
