Hey Biophillians!

With the recent set up of the lab at the we are excited to present our first community project! In this project we would be using a method, known as directed evolution, to improve or alter a bacteria's capability in dealing with toxic materials or generating new bio-active molecules.

On Thursday we will be learning about proper experimental design, techniques in directed evolution and deciding on what kind of problem we want to focus on. We will also go over safety protocols and aseptic techniques on the experiments that we will be performing. We will be giving a small tour of the lab, the equipment available, and current running projects.

Monthly meetings for the development and design of the experiments that will be performed. Labs themselves will be held on a weekly basis and are on a drop in basis. If you have no previous experience in a lab, training will be provided :)

There is a small fee associated with this workshop of $10/per person to cover equipment costs
