Politics & Prose Event: Daniel Kahneman - Thinking, Fast and Slow

Politics & Prose Bookstore and Sixth & I Present DANIEL KAHNEMAN

In "Thinking, Fast and Slow", the international bestseller now out in paperback Kahneman, the renowned psychologist and winner of the Nobel Prize in Economics, takes us on a tour of the mind and explains the two systems that drive the way we think.

System 1 is fast, intuitive, and emotional; System 2 is slower, more deliberative, and more logical. The impact of overconfidence on corporate strategies, the difficulties of predicting what will make us happy in the future, the profound effect of cognitive biases on everything from playing the stock market to planning our next vacation each of these can be understood by knowing how the two systems shape our decisions.

Kahneman reveals where we can and cannot trust our intuitions and how we can tap into the benefits of slow thinking. He offers practical insights into how choices are made in both our business and our personal lives and how we can use different techniques to guard against the mental glitches that often get us into trouble.

Admission :The cost is $12 for 1 ticket; $20 for 1 ticket + 1 book; $30 for 2 tickets + 1 book. To purchase tickets, click here. Doors open at 6:00 pm.

I have a lot on my plate this week, so I thought it over, SLOWLY, and decided I should pass on this fine event ... it should be an insightful talk

Fortunately, got this remarkable career opportunity scheduled for Thursday afternoon! Unfortunately I'll need to stay in and prep for it on Wednesday evening, and will have to miss the speaking event :( really bummed about that - I expect it to be incredibly informative. Hope there's a "next time". Enjoy!

I look forward to seeing everyone there. Since it is not assigned seating, we may not have the opportunity to all sit together. I will check-in and let everyone know where I am sitting once I arrive. Feel free to do the same if you get there early so we can find you.
