The next DORBA.org Beginner Clinic has moved to a NEW TIME and NEW LOCATION, on the SAME DATE.
New location is Horseshoe Trail in Grapvevine. New Time is 1pm to give that trail as much time as possible to dry out. The new trail's soil dries out more quickly than the original trail at River Legacy. The trail steward at Horseshoe says the trail should be open by Sunday.
Where: Horseshoe Trail
I am sorry for any inconvenience but we can not ride on muddy and closed trails. Please check back here the night before or the morning of the clinic to make sure there have been no more changes in the status of this clinic.
You should arrive at least 15 minutes before, so you can gear up before the clinic. Bring a chair to sit in for the 1 hour classroom.
What: There is a "classroom" for about an hour or so (Bring a CAMP CHAIR to sit on), then a mini-skills workshop for 40 minutes, and then a ride of an hour or more. So count on approximately 3 hours. The clinic is recommended for riders new to the sport. Beginner Clinics consist of basic instruction including bike setup, safety, trail etiquette, bike handling skills such as climbing, descending, cornering, obstacles, etc. There will be a ride after the instructional portion of the clinic.
Who: The clinic is recommended for riders new to the sport. If you have never ridden a Mountain Bike before or have just started out riding, then this is for you. You must already know how to ride a bike.
Under 18? Parents can determine whether or not your child is old enough to attend. Parents are responsible for the happiness, behavior, and safety of their kids every single minute of the clinic. They will not be allowed to hold back the rest of the clinic. All attendees under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian with them. You can not drop off your kid, you have to be with them.
Requirements: You must sign a DORBA Liability Waiver, bring a bike, a good attitude, and a bicycle helmet that you are willing to wear for the entire clinic. Please download the DORBA liability waiver, http://files.meetup.com/3841722/NEW-WAIVER.pdf Fill it out, and bring it with you. We will only have a few copies on hand for people who don't have a printer. If you don't have a signed waiver, you will not be allowed to attend the clinic. This clinic is free of charge. You do not need to be a member of the club to attend.
Weather: This clinic is dependent upon good weather and trail conditions. CHECK THIS POST THE MORNING OF THE CLINIC for any changes or cancellations. i.e. don't ask me "is this thing still going to happen". If I have to cancel because of weather, I will make the appropriate announcement on this thread.
All clinics need volunteers to help out! Please come out to help.
This clinic is sponsored by, and supported by, the Richardson Bike Mart.
