What we're about

Updated description for 2019

We're re-adjusting our focus (ahem) slightly to be more inclusive to the rest of the photography community.

This group is not just shutterbugs and models, but also all you other key artists: makeup, hair, wardrobe, costume, studio assistants, and whomever else I've forgotten.

Our goals are to learn from and mentor each other in workshops and to stage interesting, fun and safe photo-shoots. A willingness to share and learn is more important than your level of expertise.

For photographers, a camera with manual controls and flash control is required for most of the planned shoots. If you have never moved your camera away from the green square, say so at the meetup and we'll mentor you for the session.

For the other artists, all experience levels welcome. And we're always looking for experienced people to be team leaders and mentors . If you're interested in this, do let us know.

We're now creating a hands-on, learn-from-each-other setting, please join us and help us reshape the group!

RESCHEDULED!!! THE ENCHANTED FOREST DISNEY PRINCESS and Friends PHOTO EVENT!!

WE ARE BACK!! A new date has been set! And, we have an indoor backup location at a dance studio in Santa Cruz, in case of inclement weather. When we gather, introductions and instructions will begin at noon. Shooting will begin between 12:30 pm & 1:00 pm. Models are traveling from all over the Bay area. So, we want to give them time to travel and freshen up once they arrive. The shoot will go until 4:00 pm. Photographers are welcome to stay longer. But, models are free to go at that time. (There are many options for nature and landscape photography.) Organizers will arrive at 11:00 a.m. to set up and scout locations. All members are welcome to join us at that time. Following the event the group will reconvene at a local restaurant or pub to debrief and cool down. Location to be determined. We have SEVERAL models signed up and excited to perform for you!!! Our characters are as follows (subject to change): Ariel played by Atelier Licorice Belle played by Rhoswen Cosplay Alice in Wonderland played by Anna Lynn Cosplay The White Rabbit played by Jonelle Marie Red Riding Hood played by Jobi Stardust Merida played by Leila and Princess Jasmin played by Camille Elladen Cosplay Brave Queen Elinor by Britney Join Jobi Stardust and a Royal Court of Disney Princesses and their Friends at The Enchanted Forest Tree Tunnel in the Wavecrest Open Space at the end of Wavecrest Road in Half Moon Bay. There are two tree lines. We will be at the first, north from the parking lot. As always, Jobi has invited a delightful coterie of beautiful cosplayers who take great pride in the quality and authenticity of their costuming, to create a wonderful cosplay adventure for your viewing enjoyment. Models include Anna Lynn Cosplay, Atelier, Jobi Stardust, Jonelle Marie, Rhoswen Cosplay, Leila and Camille Elladen Cosplay. (Additional photos are posted in our main Meetup group gallery.) You may want a camera with flash attachment. However, the lighting is wonderful, shaded sunlight. So, you can play with the natural light and reflectors. Please do not bring large lighting systems. They tend to get in the way of other photographers. (We've had complaints.) It's a large area, that should accommodate a good sized group. Also, we will keep an eye on the weather. We wouldn't mind if it was misty, as long as it's not downright rainy. Be prepared for moisture. We'll keep you posted when we get closer to the date. As, mentioned above, we do have a backup location. We will provide water and light snacks. However, I recommend bringing your own food and drink, since we will be on site for a number of hours. You may want to bring a wagon or cart of some sort to haul provisions. At NOON, esteemed member, Greg Edwards, a Half Moon Bay resident, will kick off the event with advice on shooting in the area. There are a number of options available that he will tell about. And, Chief Organizer, Daev, will go over photographer/model etiquette. So listen up! We ask all photographers to pay $40 cash upon arrival to cover expenses. For questions contact George, [masked]. Or, Jobi, if you're a model. More info to follow, as I think of it. ;-) And, suggestions are welcome.
