The Farmington Canal Trail is a paved path lined by trees that is off from the streets and perfect for a nice walk with our pups. The trail is a popular place for people to walk and bike.

We will wait 10 minutes (9:40am) and then start walking north on the trail toward Cheshire. If you are late and miss us, the north-ward part of the trail would be to the left when you get on the trail (going right will take you toward Hamden).

We will meet in Hamden, at the trail entrance that is on Sherman Avenue, near Whitney Avenue which has a large parking lot (270 Sherman Avenue, Hamden).

-Take Whitney Avenue/10 north or south until you get to the intersection with Sherman Avenue. There is a Dunkin Donuts at that intersection. Turn right or left on to Sherman Ave (see below).

--If you are driving south on Whitney Avenue, you will turn Right on Sherman Ave toward Quinnipiac University's York Hill. Based on mapquest, it looks like the turn will be the next one after W. Woods Road and Mount Carmel Ave (the main entrance to Quinnipiac and Sleeping Giant).

--If you are driving north on Whitney/10, it will be a left turn after Brown St/Renshaw Rd.

-After you turn on to Sherman, the lot will be on your left pretty quickly, in about 1/10th of a mile. There will be a sign that says New Haven-Northampton Canal Trail. If you get to the light where you can turn right to Quinnipiac University's York Hill, then you have just missed the entrance.

Using the address 270 Sherman Avenue, Hamden, CT 06518 on GPS or mapquest should get you to the right place.

FYI, there are no bathrooms at the entrance to the trail or on the trail.

We hope to see you there!
