Often in business there is a strong sense where leadership matters in making things happen, even that making money either for oneself or one's investors is a major goal. However, businesses exist in a social context and business people have stakeholders inside and outside of their organization. Ethics, the Heart of Leadership explores the relationship between ethics and leadership with a variety of essays on topics such as transformative leadership, the role of egoism vs altruism in a leader, the leader-follower relation, empowerment and other issues.
A few questions to keep in mind:
1) What do you think is important to keep in mind in business ethics? Do you think your view of what is ethical will vary somewhat on where you are in a business?
2) What role does ethics play in the success of a business? To what extent do businesses need ethics, and is that ethic similar to or different from the ethics that private individuals hold?
3) What views does one hold on leadership? The book can be found here: https://www.amazon.com/Ethics-Heart-Leadership-Joanne-Ciulla/dp/0275982521
