MOVED TO TUESDAY, MAR 12.
Here is our route to Whiterock Lake: http://goo.gl/maps/Z9bng
It's about 8 miles down to WRL with each loop about 9 miles. That means this is about a 25 mile ride. We might decide to loop twice which would take it up to about 34. That will depend on weather and the riders. I would estimate average speed to be between 15-16 with peaks over 20. We'll ride Lawthers (off trail) when on the West Side of the lake. This is NOT a no drop ride. The focus is training and learning where the Cottonwood trail is. It goes under 75 and then under the High5, by the Forest Dart Station and then connecting into the Whiterock Creek Trail about 3/4 of a mile from Starbucks on Forest by Medical City.
We'll park in the East Parking Lot (2nd from Hillcrest) or in the gravel parking right next to that entrance (right at Peyton and Valley View Lane).
Valley View park is the first street north of 635 on Hillcrest commonly known as the trail head. The normal trail under 635 is closed hence the detour via Cottonwood (it's a nice trail). I would recommend a headlight and taillight for those that have it in case it starts to get dark before we get back. It will take 2:15 minutes not including stops if we maintain an average of 15 and do the 34. If it's windy, perhaps longer.
We will leave promptly at 5:30 so it would be wise to be there by 5:20.
