Discuss the novel "Under the Net" by Iris Murdoch and the future of the club.
Agenda: 1) Discuss future of the book club. I've recently retired and expect to be traveling much more and therefore, not around enough-- in my opinion-- to do a good and consistent job as organizer of the club. Consequently, the book club must either be transferred to another organizer ... or be closed down. Please let me know if anyone desires to takeover as organizer. Caveat: "" charges an administrative fee of $180 every six months to the organizer. 2) Discuss the book selection, "Under the Net." Set in London, it's the story of a struggling young writer, Jake Donaghue. In this lightly comic novel about work, love, wealth and fame the main character of Jake Donaghue, a long-winded freeloader, seeks to improve his circumstances and make up for past mistakes. This is Iris Murdoch's first novel and it's on a couple of top 100 lists, Time and the Modern Library.
