Anyone have any thoughts about this?http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/02/20/candidates-for-tx-board-of-education-do-not-believe-state-should-be-involved-in-education/

Yup, too many thoughts. To me they're basically saying "please elect me to a job I hate and intend to do badly at and will work in every way to undermine" and yet I expect they'll get elected exactly because that plays with way too many of the people that bother to go out and actually vote. Texas does have enough sensible people that if we could get over the apathy we might reach a point of those running for office needing to demonstrate skills appropriate to the office. I don't see that happening any time soon, though, and that seems to be a problem in many more places than just here.

It is the type of stuff that has me looking into the people on my ballot.I don't mind paying taxes for eduction as long as it is public education accessible to all and not money given to a church for their version of it. But it has to have some minimum quality, and as it stands Texas is 3rd from the bottom of 50 last I looked.
My first meeting and looking forward to it.
