  • Danceoholics Unanimous *NEW VENUE!!!!*

St James Hall (near Friends School gym&Blue Gum Service Station. Enter from Rupert Ave.)

Danceoholics Unanimous is a small, informal group of people who get together on the second Friday of each month (except January and Easter) to laugh, chat and dance a lot. Adults $10, students & Folk Federation members $8, cash only. Please bring a plate of supper to share. We do an eclectic mix of folk dances for those who want to try something different, or can't wait until the next end of month dance. Music will often be recorded, not live, but if you can play some for fun, please offer! We enjoy a mix of dances from various traditions including contra, Scottish, Irish, English, traditional and contemporary Australian, Breton and Scandinavian. All dances taught. No partner needed. All ages welcome. We try new and different dances, some challenging, some easy, some hilarious! Above all, we have fun. Dress and attitude: casual. Comfortable shoes. This is the smaller of our regular MeetUps, usually attracting about 10-15 people, which means there is some wiggle room to change the dances based on the ability of the attendees. It's very relaxed. The number of RSVPs listed on MeetUp will always be lower, as this group is just one arm of a larger community organisation. So, please don't be put off by the fact that only 3 or 4 people have RSVPd, because there will always be more people coming from other places!
