What we're about

Finally, a workout to look forward to instead of dreading. Say goodbye to the pain of dragging your feet to the gym and let the music move your body to your favourite groove. One hour to dance on your own and purely for yourself - your body will thank you for it!

What Is Dance For Yourself?

Dance For Yourself is a weekly chance to dance for the pure joy of dancing. We turn the music on for one hour so that you can move to the beat without the judgement of others (or yourself!) It happens in Windsor on a Thursday night from 7:00-8:00 PM @ Windsor Presbyterian Church, 58 Maygar Street Windsor 4030

WHAT KIND OF MUSIC IS IT?

We aim for a little bit of everything. From swing, to dance, to world, to pop, to folk, to rock, to hip-hop, to soul, to super cheesy top 40. We like dance floor classics, and we like weird things we've never heard before. You'll hate some of it, but you'll love a lot of it. And you can always sit out for a song or shrug on the spot if anything doesn't take your fancy - it's not like anyone will see you! Here is a sample:

DO PEOPLE GO ON THEIR OWN?

It's about half/half. Regardless, most everyone finds room on the dance floor to dance independently. Attending alone is totally normal, welcome and even encouraged!

SO WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Whatever makes you feel comfortable to dance in - sweatpants, bike shorts, your office attire, or a one-piece full-sequined leotard. The only rule is that you do need to wear clothes.
DO PEOPLE TALK?Here and there. But not really - the music is loud and people are there to dance, so the most verbal activity that happens is the whooping and cheering while dancing.

IS IT A BIT OF SCENE? WHO GOES TO THIS THING?

Nope! Sure, the bell curve probably straddles 30-somethings, but there's generally a good mix of ages, genders, bodies, backgrounds, and dance styles smile emoticon We've had four-year-olds and over 65-year-olds, and everything in between. The beauty of the dark is that it doesn't really matter. If you want to be there, then you belong!

WHAT IF I HATE IT?

You won't. But if it turns out that it's not your thing, no worries at all, you're welcome to leave at any point and no one will notice anyway!

WHAT IF I LOVE IT?

Then you can come every week, for the rest of your life.

GUIDELINES: Bring a bottle of water, dress to sweat.

Your Journey of Change- Embodiment Day Workshop

S.P.A.C.E

A$150.00

Year 2020 has been disruptive for everyone in one way or another. Our routines have been shaken and we have been challenged to adapt to a new way of being in the world. We started to see reality in a different light, and we noticed many unexpected reactions within ourselves and people around us. These reactions may vary, depending on the amount of change we experienced. It can range from just tiredness related to the change in our schedules, all the way to restlessness, anxiety and inexplicable states of sadness and grief. Any change starts with something dying to make room for something new. We might need to let go of jobs, situations, relationships and habits that have been part of us for a long time, bringing up visceral responses in our body from denial all the way to grief. Our body reacts to any change in routine, but this time it could reach an unprecedented level due to the intensity of shifts around us. The feeling of loss can bring up all our past experiences when something or someone died, and we did not allow ourselves to fully acknowledge or grief. Other times it could be the feeling of missing out that will bring up all the “what ifs” we carry inside. Until now our generation did not get to experience such a major disruption, but every generation before us had their fair share of challenges, from world wars, famine and diseases to natural disasters and population displacements. To face these kinds of challenges, every traditional culture in the world had methods to help overcome the physical and emotional overload. They all came together as a community to create a safe space for release and healing. To envision a new reality and muster the courage to step into a new way of being. This workshop is an invitation to a shared experience of wellbeing and embodiment practices used for millennia to bring balance back into our bodies, minds and emotions. What to expect: - Morning body activation using Qi Gong, Yoga and Shamanic Embodiment practices. - Partner Exercises and Ecstatic Dance Session - Delicious Vegetarian Lunch and healthy snacks throughout the day. - One group Traditional Chinese Medicine session, including acupuncture and dietary / lifestyle recommendations. - Cacao Ceremony, Ecstatic Dance and Sound Healing to conclude the day. Your Journey of Change Series: 23/01/2021- Embodiment Day Workshop //2021 – Vision Day Workshop //2021 – Expression Day Workshop
