SF COMMUNITY DANCE - July 25 from 5-8 p.m. - "Everyone Can Dance"

***** Let's Dance!!! ***** In honor of Disability Pride Month,
DisabledCommunity.Org is co-sponsoring a dance with other disability and aging focused organizations on Saturday, July 25th from 5-9 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Center at 1187 Franklin Street, San Francisco. This pride dance is open to people with and without disabilities and is planned as a social action to increase self love and social movement and to decrease alienation and isolation within our community.
AXIS Dance Company will kick off the dance from 5:30 to 6:30 teaching dance participants new ways of thinking about movement. From 6:30 on everyone can dance to the musical mixings of Leroy Franklin Moore Jr. of
Krip Hop Nation who will be mixing a group of diverse popular dance music, including music created by artists with disabilities. Note: you can RSVP at the Bay Area Dancing Enthusiast's Meetup, but will need to either order a ticket or buy one at the door.
To order a ticket to the Dance Online --- $5-25 based on ability to pay
Order a ticket at this link or choose to volunteer or sponsor the dance. Tickets may also be purchased at the door. Pizza, Salads, Drinks and Snacks will be available for purchase at the event. Contact Lori Guidos at [masked] or leave a message at[masked] if you have additional questions.

The dance was a very unique experience. One like I have never been too. People in wheel chairs, walkers, and canes were out on the floor dancing along with people from the ARC and Toolworks participants.... We also had people who appear to have no physical disability dancing side by side. There were people of all ages who attended. Kids as young as 8 and about a dozen teenagers and on up the spectrum to someone who was in their late 90's.

There were some wallflowers, but there was always a crowd on the floor.

Plenty of food and drinks had been donated from Vicolo Pizza, Hansen, Rainbow, Trader Joe's, and San Francisco Ice Company.

Reggie Daniels played great tunes from swing to rock and roll, reggae to hip hop.

Many people left saying they hoped we would have the dance again next year.

I had a great time! First time dancing in a long time. Felt great to be back on the dance floor. Everyone sorta danced together in one large group more or less. Great people. Very joyous. Wasn't able to find the others from Meetup. There were several organizations there. Very free flowing. Would go again!
