The Dances of Universal Peace are simple, meditative, multi-cultural circle dances that use sacred phrases, chants, music and movements from the many traditions of the earth to touch the spiritual essence in ourselves and others. Based on the work begun in the late 60’s by Samuel Lewis, they promote peace and integration within individuals and groups worldwide. There are no performers nor audience. New arrivals and old hands form the circle together. No prior experience is necessary. The sacred words, the music and the movement of the Dances are taught each time.
All, including children, are welcome. We meet on the first Friday of each month at the First Unitarian Church of San Jose, 160 N. 3rd Street, right across from Saint James Park.
