Dancing the Night Away

Come and dance the night away with us at our monthly dances!

A fun and friendly group of people attend these dances. The music is a mix of top 40 hits, retro, line dancing, social dancing, disco, etc., and our DJ, Eric, is always available for request songs. The dance hall is air conditioned, the dance floor is large, bar prices are very affordable and free parking is available. The price of admission includes a snack (pizza, coffee, cookies) at midnight. Also at midnight – door prizes and a half-and-half draw.

This is a very relaxed and informal event. The dress code is casual.

Come with a friend, or come on your own and make new friends. If you are coming for the first time and don’t know anyone, you can sit at our hospitality table where you will be welcomed and where you can meet new friends. Just bring a smile and don’t be shy – no one will be alone for long. You’ll meet some interesting people and have a great time!

As Cheryl noted below, it’s well known in Internet circles that there’s a large number of individuals, commonly referred to as ’Internet trolls’, who typically amuse themselves by posting false accusations on message boards with the hope of causing maximum disruption on the board. They thrive on attention, and therefore keep posting negative comments, knowing that people will reply. It’s like a contest for them - the more replies they get, the prouder they are of their accomplishment. These individuals usually post under a false identity in an attempt to avoid being banned from the board.
Our Meetup welcomes all feedback, positive or negative, because this will help to improve future dances. However, all such comments must be truthful and respectful to others. Comments which contain false accusations will not be permitted and will be deleted, and members who repeatedly post comments of this nature will be removed from this Meetup.

Another great dance last night. Big thanks to the organizers and our amazing DJ Eric. We had such a good time dancing all night on the big dance floor (in a 40+ age group)...It is always a pleasure to hang around friendly, happy people who want to have fun, creating a positive atmosphere. All I can say is it was a blast and we will be back!

I am so grateful that I never met you Gary. I abhor whiners and for your information women of EVERY age are phenomenal... You close so many doors in your life... as it turns out, we women have friends, daughters, cousins and other people in our lives. No matter our age, connections are always made in the strangest of circumstances. Maybe one day you will learn to be more appreciative after you learn to love yourself first and find happiness inside yourself.

    This one is for Gary:
There was a group of 40 and early 50 year olds last night that hung out together which included myself. We had a great time dancing. I am surprised that you didn't see this or take advantage by joining in on the fun. Sadly to say, it was your loss buddy.

He couldn't have been there; otherwise he would have seen all of you ~ I certainly did! In his 2/3 speeches he was STILL fixated on 60 plus. No matter how many times we had told him about it being 40's, 50's, 60's, he absolutely didn't want to know. It's futile for us to waste any more time with him; many of us have already done our utmost to respond to his queries. I rest my case.

Great evening of music and dancing! Kudos for the organizers, led by the amazing Patricia. You performed your usual professional job, sitting at the front desk, ready and willing to answer all inquiries. A round of applause to the DJ, Eric, who excelled as usual with his choice of musical selections. A substantial minority of the music was line dancing, and the rest was pop, retro, disco, and Latin. No single theme dominated, despite a mendacious report to the contrary. High marks as well for the cleanliness of the facilities - no unpleasant smells or sights. When I left, just after 11:30, the parking lot wasn't even filled, contrary to the lie claimed by a cowardly, faceless, non-entity. I danced with many women, but you know, I didn't compile a scorecard of their ages. RATS! I missed another opportunity to make whiny, self-pitying, accusatory, non-factual statements about the average age of the women attending. Next time.

There are valid reasons for not posting a picture on a Meetup venue. I've talked to several people about it. None have been shy about identifying themselves in person. Anonymity is a wonderful tool for those who prefer to hide in the shadows, spewing poison, safe in their concealment.

Lookin' for'ard to another wonderful evening of amazing music, wonderful dancing (or as much as my poor, abused feet can take), and charming people. I'll dance with any lively lady who has a pulse, whether she be a young'un, just out of the cradle in her 40s, or a mature demoiselle who can dance rings around me.
Kudos to you, Patricia, for your incomparable, tireless efforts to organize, inform, and encourage for these dances. As soon as one is posted, a big circle goes around that date on my calendar.

One does not judge from what one hears. Every time I go, there are regulars, and new faces each time. It's a matter of exposure. The more you come out, the more will enjoy yourself

Je voie qu'il y a un groupe d'âge en particulier, au départ cela n'a pas été mentionné!!!! Moi, je crois que tout le monde a le droit de s'amuser sans se soucier de son âge....

    2 · May 14, 2014

    • Cheryl N.

Ce n'est pas toujours une question d'âge parce ce que tout le monde s'amuse, comme vous avez dit. Aussi, c'est un mélange de 40, 50 & 60 - ou nous pouvons dire 40 PLUS - la même chose.

I hope all the dances will not be at the legion ,
how about the Dorval community centre or the Karnac on sources there used to a Hugh hall on Guin in
Pierfond QC , that was great for dancing
hope to receive more interesting notices for dance events

    April 17, 2014

    • Patricia

      Hi Diane,
We have a rental contract with the Legion, and this helps to keep our operating costs down. Most of our members are happy with the venue because it is easily accessible from downtown, the West Island and the South Shore.

As far as i know the dance has been
$12 .00 for some time now , It' s a regular cover for the music and use of hall , and if you like to Drink it is cheaper than a regular bar
