In conjunction with SteamFest 2018 (www.steamfestvt.com), Essex Junction's annual celebration of the confluence of the arts and technology, Darkroom Gallery will be screening two short films produced by Burlington-area residents.
The first, CAREGIVERS is a "Filmmaker's presentation of the preproduction work for CAREGIVERS, a feature-length hybrid documentary about grassroots in-home eldercare in the hills of rural Vermont." Filmmaker Jesse Kreitzer will give a short talk about his work on the film. Anyone with an interest in documentary presentation, whether as still photography or in the film/video realm is especially encouraged to attend.
The second screening will be a beautifully accomplished look, through the eyes and lens of part-time Essex Junction resident Sami Alalul, at the challenges, perils, and triumphs of a group of young Palestinian musicians. Titled "From Beneath the Earth", it's a "short documentary that explores the intersections that exist at the heart of music created by underground Palestinian artists". We showed "From Beneath the Earth" twice at last year's SteamFest to deeply appreciative audiences who requested we do it again this year. Recommended highly!
