Storytelling on Instagram: Come learn and practice your photography, film-making, and storytelling skills while touring the city. Our first Meetup will be a fun photo-walk originating at City Hall, then exploring the Philadelphia area from there. TOOLS: -Smartphone or DSLR -Comfortable shoes -Instagram app Installed on your phone Photography, film-making, and storytelling has evolved with introduction of social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and Youtube. Instagram has become a major staple in our industry as it pertains to new ways create and share images, videos, text, and stories. If you're not familiar with Instagram Stories, it's a revolutionary tool many photographers have adopted to build their skills and brands. In a nutshell, it has great tools that allow you to immediately create and share photos, short video clips, text, emojis and more on the fly. I always recommend to visual artists that they practice their crafts using Instagram Stories. They say the best camera is the one you always have with you, and I believe that 100%. You don't need to have a huge following, or any following at all on Instagram for that matter to attend this event. You'll be able to save images and video clips to your phone to post on other platforms if you choose to, or just add them to your online portfolio. Again, feel free to bring your DSLR cameras if you'd like. You can always upload your images to Instagram Stories after the fact. As we walk, we will cover techniques, tips and tricks you can use for your street photography in general, and for Instagram specifically. The Project: Create your own personal Instagram Story as we explore Philadelphia. This will essentially be photo-journalism and video-journalism wrapped in one, but way waay waaay cooler. :) After the event, post up to 5 of your favorite images from your Instagram Story to our Meetup Page. Feel free to bring 1 guest along for the ride, but please be on time so we can maximize our time together. We will meet at 10 AM sharp, get briefed, then start our walk at 10:15 AM. If you have any questions feel free to contact me. Below you can find a couple of short videos of other photo-walks and workshops I've conducted. They're a good time. :) PHOTOGRAPHY SUMMER CAMP: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQ8nnd4yyWc PHOTO-WALK AT THE BEN FRANKLIN PARKWAY: https://youtu.be/Yi0ifUj9WOk INSTAGRAM STORY: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BV03iNs20k Have a great week...and I'll see you soon! -Josh

  • Philly Street Photo-Run

    Front and South

Come create and sweat with us during our first Philly Street Photo Run. ALL photography and fitness levels are welcome. This is not a race, but it is a fun way to become active and practice your photography at the same time. (VIDEO OF THE ROUTE HERE) https://youtu.be/-mpxYJ-Fumo There are two things I love, running, and photography. Join us as we cruise the city via jogging, and capture the sights we see along the way. The distance will be exactly 3 miles, and you’re more than welcome to jog, walk, or do a combination of the two throughout the easy to navigate route. We will begin our warmup and route at Front and South Street. From there, we’ll run over to Penns Landing which is filled with great places to photograph. After our Penns Landing stop, we’ll continue our route to the Race Street Pier before circling back to our starting point on South Street. TOOLS: -Running shoes -Smartphone (you can bring a DSLR if you’d like, but I recommend a smartphone because you’ll be jogging half or most of the time)
