Orlando Spooky Book Club @TheFalcon
Do you like to read spooky books? Do you wish you had more friends to discuss the latest horror novel? Are you looking for recommendations on the creepy, dark, weird, and macabre? If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then come check out the Orlando Spooky Book Club! Here’s what we do: *Each month, read a spooky book. *On the fourth Thursday of the month at 8pm at the Falcon bar, meet and discuss the book. *Optional bonus: stick around to enjoy Metal Night with DJ VJ at 9pm. A perfect companion soundtrack to our continued discussions. VJ plays all your metal favorites: black, death, tech, thrash, sludge, doom, progressive, and the classics. Important Note! * Maybe you’ve already read the book or you simply cannot (time, access, or .....just cannot). So instead, read another book on that theme, that way you can participate and recommend content to others. We want to be welcoming and provide a space for curious spooky folks who want to explore and learn. Maybe you just cannot read a book that month, but you are passionate about a short story, a podcast, a show, or a movie relating to the theme. Join us and share your recommendations! In honor of the December holidays, let’s read a family book. Brother by Ania Ahlborn This is a book about a family with unconventional and disturbing traditions…. Some highlights from Goodreads reviews: “ ….A story about a family of serial cannibal killers and not just that. The levels of depravity described here are shocking…..” “...This book was incredibly bloody, incredibly twisted….” “...I need to soak my eyes and brain in bleach after reading this horrifying tale….” For those of you with an Orange County Library card, this audiobook is available for free on the Hoopla app. There’s also a couple of copies at the library or you can grab a copy from the bookseller of your choice. If you’ve already read this book or can’t get to it, please come and share recommendations on other family-oriented horror stories :) What’s next? Here are some other book possibilities to look forward to! *Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill *Afraid by Jack Kilborn *Haunted by Chuck Palahniuk *Come Closer by Sara Gran *The Fog by James Herbert We’re always open to suggestions for great books in the horror genre (personal recommendations or books with 3.5 or above rating on Goodreads). Hope to see you soon! -Syreena
