This is our first series of workshops on R.

The workshop will last 1.5 hours and will be an introduction to basic concepts of R and why it's a good tool for data analytics. This session will be for beginners in R.

The session will be interactive, we will try out live examples please come with your laptops with R installed.

Speakers -

Very good presentation. I really liked that we could work along with the presenter. It went very quickly, but I think that was a good thing. Enough so I could go home and play with R more. Links to slides were very helpful and the suggestions of datasets to play with were great. Really good presentation.

Hi everyone, I posted the slides and the example code on our blog. Enjoy!

I thought it was great. I've been meaning to look into R for a while. It was a good jump start into it. The one thing that I would suggest is that as a programmer, I would have liked to see just a quick 5 or 10 minute overview about how the language compares with other programming languages (i.e., types and data structures, control structures, etc.).

This was a great idea for a meetup, and a great intro to R.
    Xavier really knows his stuff!

Great working session for a beginner for R, provided me the pointers that help learning the language.

Thanks so much for putting this presentation together. It was exactly what I as a beggining R user was looking for.

it will be nice to inform ahead about " install Rstudio and library ggplot2" otherwise, it is perfect for beginner.
I have R installed and was able to following the material on first half of presentation. for second half of the presentation, ... when I finally have Rstudio and library download/installed, I totally lost the data name and was not able to do the hands on.
    overall, good for beginner

It was a great introduction to R. Went a little long, but was still fun.

Great content, great location. Just as advertised - just the right depth of details. I am hooked - R.

True to it's name -- Workshop for beginners. So, it was my own fault for expecting more out of it. It was a great overview of R and a little demo into its capabilities. I'm a fan of PBL, so I would have benefitted more from a description of the problem we were trying to solve before the demo. Thanks for putting together the presentation. In the era of data driven decisions, tools like R will definitely have staying power.

Having the slides ahead of time would have helped... otherwise, thank you for all your efforts!

Great introduction to R! It was exactly what I was looking for! Clearly conveyed thoughts and well presented. I look forward to the next session. Thank you!

It was great to see the large range of capabilities for R. Next time maybe we could have fewer topics covered in a little more detail (in particular explaining how R is parsing some of the code we used would be useful).

the workshop was AWESOME. thank you for doing this and am looking forward for more session. only concern was that I'm a about the height of the the median attendee which means I had a hard time viewing the screen. Also, I felt the course went super fast and had a hard time keeping up. Looking forward to the PowerPoint

    I learned a LOT! Thanks!

Great session and was at the perfect level for me. The examples were great and the background and context of R was helpful. The only suggestion I would offer is that it needs more time or a little editing. I would have been happy to stay to work through all the exercises. Thanks for hosting.

I really appreciate that the Metamarkets team took the time to do this, and I'm grateful to them. However, I would have preferred a deeper dive into how R stores and processes data; how functions work; etc. There was a little too much stress on graphing, and not enough on data munging, IMHO.

As someone who had limited experience with R, this was a great introduction to get past the initial blank command line. I felt like I created something in the short time we had and even tried loading some of my own data during the session.

This was great. I'm totally psyched to start programming with R! Thanks to everyone who helped put this on.
