From: Harlan H.
Sent on: Saturday, October 29, 2011 11:44 AM

Hi everyone,

This may be of interest, although the timing isn't great. Two statistics committees of the NAS are presenting a seminar next Friday at 3pm-5pm, on the Netflix prize. Bob Bell (AT&T Labs Research), Lester Mackey (UC-Berkeley) and Emmanual Candes (Stanford) will be talking about the competition, the algorithms, and remaining challenges in recommender systems.

It's at the Keck Center, 500 Fifth St NW, Room 100. They ask you RSVP by Monday to Agnes Gaskin at [address removed].
