I'm working with a client looking for a candidate for the following opportunity based in their Tampa location.
The Data Scientist is an advanced computational analyst who has a proven track record of taking ownership of projects in many different business areas or spanning multiple business areas. They have built partner-level relationships with clients to provide deep analysis and guidance on crucial business opportunities within the company. They draw upon their experience and an expert understanding of applied statistics, applied mathematics, data mining, predictive modeling, and forecasting to ensure that their results and those of other team members are accurate and clear providing actionable insights and strategic direction for business leaders. Data Scientists are detail oriented and highly aware of the impact of their analyses not only within a particular business area, but across the entire enterprise.
What you’ll do:
Take ownership of major cross functional projects and aid in the alignment of team members for said projects from inception to deployment
Own and support relationships between business area clients, Business Intelligence and IT so that all are appropriately aligned to meet team objectives
Work with team members to develop the appropriate analytical methods to apply to business questions at hand.
Work with team members to collect data for ad-hoc and statistical analysis
Develop predictive and prescriptive statistical or behavioral models
Identify methods that allow continuous and automated statistical testing to enhance the predictability of deployed models
Take ownership of deployment of applicable models for business use
Improves the processes within the team to ensure that future projects can be accomplished more efficiently
Summarize and present conclusions and solutions
Mentor team members and proactively provide appropriate feedback and peer reviews
What you’ll need:
Masters or above in statistics, mathematics, computer science or other applied science field or equivalent relevant experience
Advanced experience with statistical, econometric, or data mining tools and methods to incorporate statistical results into analyses
Experience with linear models (linear regression, generalized linear regression, logistic regression) and nonlinear modeling techniques such as decision trees
Understanding of advanced nonlinear techniques (smoothing methods, ensemble methods) and time series
At least 5 years of experience providing predictive and prescriptive analytics in a business setting
Working knowledge of standard querying with SQL
Fluency with at least one general programming language such as Python, Java or C/C++
Experience working with large data sets (those that don’t easily fit into memory and may benefit from distributed systems).
Strong oral and written communication skills proven to be clear and appropriate for the audience
