What is your favorite tool for visualizing data?

D3, Processing (I know, right?!), and Excel (it's true).

Do you think data visualization is more of an art or more of a science? Why?

It's a science with artistic appeal. Ben Fry describes excellently how data visualization problems can be decomposed and attacked in a very methodical fashion, but the benefits of imagination throughout those steps is self-evident.

Help us provide better events and tell us more about yourself:

I'm interested in everything data visualization, from core technologies to novel applications.

I'm a software engineer and researcher interested in data visualization, social network analysis, and human-computer interaction.
