What is your favorite tool for visualizing data?

Tableau, though I've wrestled Excel in all its versions in efforts to create useful visualizations.

Do you think data visualization is more of an art or more of a science? Why?

It's an art. Bad data visualization is scientific; a bad chart is accurate, but a good piece of art tells the story. Not a USAToday style garbage story - just a clean, simple glance tells you what you're looking at. Often, you have to invent a new type of chart, or at least use one you've never used before.
