Data Visualization DC Message Board › Workshop - Creating Maps and Measures with NodeXL
|Sean Moore G.||
Hello fellow Visualizers!
This last Spring we featured Ben Schneiderman of UMD's HCIL, and now Data Community DC is happy to host Ben's colleague Marc Smith in going down the rabbit hole and teaching everything you need to get started with NodeXL. The abstract is included below, workshop price is $25, please see all the details and register on the Data Community DC NodeXL event page.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there and again on November 19th for our Data Journalism event!
Networks are a data structure commonly found across all social media services that allow populations to author collections of connections. The Social Media Research Foundation's NodeXL project makes analysis of social media networks accessible to most users of the Excel spreadsheet application. With NodeXL, Networks become as easy to create as pie charts. Applying the tool to a range of social media networks has already revealed the variations present in online social spaces. A review of the tool and images of Twitter, flickr, YouTube, and email networks will be presented. This hands-on workshop will take users through installation, setup, initial use, automation, and analysis of network data.
