Join us for an evening of planning and learning. Cliff Sobchuck will present on "Starting on the Road to become a Data Scientist".

Agenda:

Sensing Survey - Existing Data Scientists, Data Analysts, Business Analysts, Engineering Data Analysis, Other Analysts

Brief Description of Data Scientist - what they do and how they differ from other analysts, tool sets

Brief Description of learning path - Technical Workshops, R and Statistical Computing, Machine Learning, Visualization S/W, Coursera courses (group work), etc.

Workshop Pipeline - presentation ideas, and identifying who can present on what and when.

Sensing Survey - Interest in learning tool sets and algorithms - i.e. interested in the learning path -others

    Won't be able to make this as I'm not in Calgary but it would be wonderful if the materials presented could be made available and/or a recording of the presentation. There are a number of programs such as Voice Record for the iPad or Audacity for Mac and Windows. The clip could be uploaded onto SoundCloud.

    For those missing the "Stats/R" section of being a Data Scientist. It is free and might be good to take.

    I am taking this one as I do not have a Stats background.
