Big Data Analytics nabs 1,000 corrupt LIRR employees, 1 billion stolen. Was the data killed the beast.

Great event! Regarding the lines.... The event is free. Bloomberg gives us space, and buys us food and drinks. I think they're entitled to have a registration hiccup every now and then.

Great insights across a broad spectrum of business issues and opportunities. Thanks for sorting out the attendee list issue in short order.

I was very interested in Rachel Schutt's description of the growing important of data in enabling News Corp's work, including data-driven journalism.

But given today's news, I was extremely disappointed that she felt unable to talk about her group's role in constraining the use of data, even in generalities, either in her talk or following a direct question.

As the question she did not answer suggested, this morning a very senior News International employee was found guilty of criminal conspiracy to illegally access telephony data by hacking voicemails.

It was a shame we didn't have time do discuss it more today. I hope we have opportunities to touch on some of the social, ethical and legal issues of data in the future.

p.s. the Trifacta demo was awesome!

Thanks to Bloomberg for making lemonade from the registration snafu. Excellent presenters, Trifacta demo was incredibly impressive.

Everyone: the venue registration system broke, so we are registering people manually one by one, hence the line. We are delaying the start of the event accordingly.

    Long lines at Bloomberg lobby

I am having the same problem! Came early to make sure I get in, so it's quite frustrating.

    June 24, 2014

    • Matt T.

Apparently the venue only uploaded half of the list we gave them for whatever reason. We are working on it and see going to let people up, apologies.

  • Brian R.

I think the problem I slowly getting resolved.

If anyone at the meeting is paying attention. I have a confirmed RSVP but my name isn't at the door. Please try to straighten this out.

    June 24, 2014

  • Shubin L.

If I am on waitinglist, can I still come and join?

    June 24, 2014

    • James B.

No, Bloomberg requires prior receipt of your name to check-in.

Packed day starting with MongoDB World, this will be a fitting cap to it.

I realize this comment is self-defeating, but as a matter of PSA every one of the "Hi 5, I love this meetup" comments goes into 100s of inboxes, so please keep it substantial.
