The name David's Troupers was chosen as a whim, but I looked up the word "Trouper" yesterday and was pleasantly surprised. It means: 1. A member of a theatrical company, 2. A veteran actor or performer, 3. A staunch worker or colleague. A trouper also sounds like trooper, and describes a strong soldier.
We believe that pure Gospel music is a powerful spiritual force, and that, eventually, the Song of the Lamb will drown out all others.
We believe that spiritual warfare is not against people, but against forces of darkness which kill, rob and destroy, and that Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, as He proclaimed, came to destroy the works of the enemy and that is true divine love which sets us free heals us and empowers us.
We desire the humble and repentant heart of David, the great shepherd boy, bold warrior, harp player and psalmist. We believe, that as forces of darkness sweep into our cities, and our nation, the power of God raises up a standard against it. We want to exercise our God-given Liberty, freedom of speech and religion.
We are open to musicians who play a wide variety of instruments, and also welcome vocalists. We play Christian Gospel and roots music, drawing from Gospel, country, rock, folk and jazz, and maybe even some classical.
We jam and fellowship together. We hone our skills for public performances in places like streets, community centers, parks and churches. We make a joyful noise. I expect that getting the right people takes time and that I need to make a long-term commitment as a leader to be there consistently at the appointed place and time.
