Shape note music is a living American musical tradition based on four "shapes" (fa, sol, la, mi). We sing in four-part harmony, with only voices. Singings are a democratic process. Everyone has the opportunity to pick songs and lead them in turn. Beginners and all levels of experience are very welcome, and there is time to ask questions or work through the parts if needed. We will sing from The Sacred Harp (Denson edition) and The Shenandoah Harmony. Loaner books are available for use at the session. You can find out more about shape note singing at https://fasola.org.
We sing twice a month in two locations. Second Fridays of the month are at Davis Friends Meetings House and final Fridays are at Turner Community Library in West Sacramento.
Loaner books are always available. All ages and abilities welcome! Contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions or would like more info.
